Bernshaw - Phyllis & Edward Bernstein

Bernshaw was established in 1945 by Phyllis and Edward Bernstein. Bernshaw had been supplying the elite for red carpet appearances from the 1940’s and became famous for their beautiful occasion wear dresses and party ensembles.

The brand was sold in Harrods and Selfridges in the 1950’s and eventually became an international bestseller.  In the swinging sixties it was worn by Celebrities like Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton who were frequently seen in their statement Little Black Dresses.

In the 1980’s Bernshaw dressed the cast of US television soap Dallas and were quickly known for reinterpreting celebrity styles such as the dress Demi Moore wore in 1993 film classic Indecent Proposal and the style worn by Halle Berry to receive her Oscar.

At that time Bernshaw became an annual feature on television by overnight copying the Oscar dresses. The following morning they showed their replicas on a major tv channel. Needless to say all these styles became worldwide bestsellers.
